In honor of Jane Sellars
We are honored to remember Jane Sellers, beloved mother to Kristin Sellers Schneider and Tim Sellers; an integral part of our theatre’s beginnings.
As a charter member of our board, she helped bring this organization to life and laid the foundation for the community that continues to grow today. Her smile, ever warm and infectious, will be remembered by all who knew her, and her spirit is woven into the very fabric of this theatre.
If you would like to honor her memory, her family has asked that donations be made to our theatre. We are deeply honored that they chose to think of us in this way.
We hold her family in our thoughts and are grateful for the legacy she leaves behind.
Obituary of Jane Bell Bogart Sellers (12/9/1940 – 2/28/2026)
Jane Bell Bogart Sellers, cherished by many family and friends as “Jens,” passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 85, with her two children by her side after a courageous journey with frontotemporal dementia.
Jane was born on December 9, 1940, in Evanston, Illinois, to George and Louise Bogart. She grew up in Kenilworth, Illinois, attended New Trier High School, and went on to earn her BA from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. While at Albion, she pledged the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, where she formed friendships that would last a lifetime.
Summers shaped Jane deeply. She spent much of her childhood at Sylvan Beach, Michigan, sailing and swimming through long, bright days and singing with friends around beach fires in the evenings. It was a place that never left her heart. Later in life, she carried that same spirit forward, returning to Sylvan Beach with her own children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends, and sharing her considerable piano talents with church services and the beloved annual Jinks show.
Early in her career, Jane taught middle school English at Keller Middle School in Royal Oak, Michigan. After marrying Tom Sellers, the couple settled in Danville, Kentucky, where they raised their two children, Kristin and Tim. Jane threw herself into the life of the community with her characteristic energy. She helped to found the West T Hill Community Theatre, serving on its board, and performing in many of its productions. She also dedicated years of service to the Danville Independent School Board, including several as President, where she championed students and educators with unwavering conviction. She later joined the Development and Alumni Office at Centre College, where her warmth and gift for genuine connection made her a natural and deeply valued presence.
Following her divorce, Jane moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she continued her work in alumni relations at Cincinnati Country Day School and remained deeply engaged in the arts, serving on the board of Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati.
Jane was an accomplished pianist who played beautifully by both sight and ear, filling her home with classical pieces, ragtime, and the bright songs of musical theater. She was an avid reader, most often found curled in her corner of the couch with a good book and a bag of Doritos. She was smart, articulate, and endlessly curious. She was known for her quick wit, fabulous laugh, and a lively sense of humor that drew people to her and kept them close.
Jane often reflected that she had “lived many lives within her life,” and she truly had. She was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a teacher, a performer, a civic leader, a colleague, a collaborator, and a friend—meeting each role with full presence, deep generosity, and an unmistakable joyful spirit. She truly cherished all the family and friends who made her life so rich, and she felt blessed to have friends from more places than can be written here. Her children and grandchildren made her face light up, and she was deeply proud of each of them.
Jane is survived by her children, Kristin Sellers Schneider and her husband Chris Schneider of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dr. Tim Sellers and Andrea Campbell of Avon, New York. She was a proud grandmother to Anthony Schneider and his husband Jon Meister, George Schneider, Lily Sellers, and Owen Sellers. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Peter Bogart, Mary Lou Jenkins, and Betsy Grein.
Jane will be remembered for the smile that lit up a room, her eager generosity, and the infectious joy she brought to life—a joy she shared freely with everyone lucky enough to know her. Those who loved her will carry the sparkle of her laughter and the warmth of her presence with them always.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of The Barrington of Oakley, including their Memory Care Team, and Hospice of Cincinnati for their compassionate and loving care and support.
A family service will be held to celebrate her life. Donations may be made in her honor to the West T Hill Community Theatre in Danville, Kentucky.
